For this project I created a typography poster for a typography contest for my graphic design 2 class. I had tons of fun designing the poster for this contest, and I hope you enjoy my final design as well.
We had to choose two antonyms, so the words I chose were noisy and quiet. Another condition we had to apply to our poster was to use two different languages. The words I selected were translated from the countries of Sweden and the Netherlands. This conversion, for noisy and quiet, was translated as Scheeuwend and Lugn. The Scheeuwend design is based off of a neon club sign to portray the Dutch clubs of the Netherlands, and the Lugn design was based off of the quiet serene lands of Sweden. Scheeuwend is one of the main dominating words, for night clubs become very noisy at night. I chose a dark gray color for the background for this very reason. Lugn in the poster represents the word quiet, so for the placement in the poster I placed it in the direct center to draw attention to it. I also made the word smaller to portray a quiet night scene. The use of multiple bright colors for the overall concept are to show movement in the neon signs.
